Manufacturer Description: The 90-hour Ultrasonic Warm and Cool Mist Humidifier guards against problems caused by dry air in the home. It features an easy to fill large 1.32-gallon tank, ideal for use in medium-sized rooms. Unlike other humidifiers that grow slimy mold on the water tank surface, Silver Clean™ Protection is embedded in the tank to fight the growth of mold and mildew on the surface of the water tank. Thanks to ultrasonic technology, it disperses a fine mist into the air, which can be extended using the wands. It is ultra-quiet making it ideal to have on while you sleep. The humidifier is equipped with the option for warm or cool mist and 3 speed settings. A low water indicator light lets you know when it’s time to refill the water tank. It also features a soft glow nightlight, and a timer. Run time is based off of running the unit on low setting and cool mist, also depends on atmospheric conditions.
Ultrasonic Technology: Ultra-Quiet: Perfect for all, including sleeping children; Ultra-Quick: Immediately begins to disperse a fine, even mist creating a comfortable environment; Ultra-Easy: Eliminates the need for costly replacement filters, wicks or pads.
SilverClean™ Protection: Treated with SilverClean™ to fight the growth of slimy mold and mildew on the surface of the water tank – a common problem with traditional humidifiers.
Extended Reach Wands: Use the extension wands to disperse an even mist throughout the entire room.
Saves Money: Eliminates evaporating filters that must be cleaned, replaced and breed mold and mildew.
Warm or Cool Humidification: Enjoy your choice of warm or cool mist.
Works in Large and Small Rooms: Variable spray control works in large or small rooms.
Additional Features: Up to 90-hour run time; 1.32 gallon tank capacity; Use timer to customize your preferred run time for up to 12 hours; Water level window; On/Off Nightlight.
Why This Sh!t Worked For Us (or Didn’t):
We chose this humidifier solely based on aesthetics. It’s compact and white, so it blends with our nursery’s decor better than some of the more industrial or space age-looking options we considered. There are some lovey spa-style humidifiers on the market, but we appreciated the narrow frame of this model for our small space. The preset run time is useful; we set it for 12 hours when we put Sydney down for bed each evening–as well as for an hour or two during naps. We also like that a sensor monitors the room’s humidity level and automatically shuts the unit on and off based on the desired settings; however, we do wish that the unit retained the previously selected settings instead of resetting to the manufacturer defaults each time it’s powered on.
We are a bit limited by the manufacturer’s suggestion to place this humidifier (up) on a table or nightstand and not on the floor. Placement on carpets, towels, blankets or other absorbent surfaces is forbidden (or it looked forbidden based on the all caps in the instructions). Sydney’s nursery does not have any remaining elevated surfaces that can accommodate the size of this humidifier, so–with the unit on the floor–we use the extended reach wands provided to project the mist. The “soft glow” nightlight is a little too bright for our use, as Sydney sometimes appeared distracted by it at bedtime until we started switching it off. Another undesirable feature is that water tends to drip from the tank when it’s removed from the reservoir base for refills, which are generally required every second night.
The manufacturer boasts a trademarked protective treatment to counteract mold and mildew growth on the surface of the water tank; however, the unit requires pretty regular cleaning to remove mildew within the base and in crevices–including the ones on top of the tank. There are also a few places where it’s fairly difficult to wipe out the slime that builds up.
After about five months, the relatively quiet humidifier began to run with a distinctly louder hum. We’re reaching out to the manufacturer under the 3-year limited warranty and will provide an update regarding the solution that is offered.
UPDATE: We trashed this humidifier and purchased a sleek Stadler Form Anton Ultrasonic Humidifier (but we didn’t love it either; review coming soon)!
