Features & Benefits:

Why This Sh!t Worked for Us:
According to the manufacturer, the BabyBjörn Travel Crib Light complies with the EN 716 safety standard for folding cribs and national fire safety requirements. We have no idea what that means, but it sounds good.
However, we do know what convenience means to us, and machine-washable, ease-of-transport and fool-proof set-up rank at the top when it comes to travel.
The fabric is easy to remove and is machine washable (warm/40˚C), but should not be tumbled dry. The mattress cover is also machine washable (hot/60˚C). Again according to the manufacturer, all of the materials are kind to skin and safe to taste. They are free from harmful substances and approved according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class 1 for baby products.
With plenty of how-to videos on YouTube to reference, BabyBjörn’s travel crib is as simple to assemble and disassemble as its top competitor’s equally-attractive versions — namely the Guava Family’s Lotus Every Travel Crib and the Nuna Sena Mini.
There were a few times that we missed not having the zippered side door feature of the Lotus (think: breastfeeding a fussy infant in the side-lying position and then quietly sneaking away with a swift zip of the side door), and the Sena Mini boasts a travel bassinet attachment; however, the Lotus’ mattress is slightly thinner than the BabyBjörn’s, and the Sena Mini is heavier than both (nineteen pounds compared to the Lotus and BabyBjörn’s thirteen). Additionally, the Sena Mini — (30.3 x 10.4 x 10.4″) when folded — would not fit within our extra large suitcase while the BabyBjörn (folded down in carry bag at 19 x 23.5 x 5.5 in/49 x 60 x 14 cm) just squeezes inside with a bit of room to spare for baby clothes, toys or other supplies. Some parents opt to simply check it at the airline counter within just the thin canvas carry bag.
Baby Travel Hack: Leave the travel crib at home if your hotel provides complimentary rollaway cribs.
While the bassinet attachment of the Sena Mini was appealing, that feature had a short shelf life relative to our considerations for the long-term use of the travel crib, which is through approximately 3 years of age. We ultimately decided that we preferred the thickest travel mattress available on the existing market for the duration of its (3-year) use and thus chose the BabyBjörn.
