Manufacturer Description:
Sleeping away from home with a baby or toddler has never been easier! Open the carry bag, lift out the travel crib and set it up in one easy movement. It’s just as effortless to fold down and pop back into the carry bag. The travel crib stands firmly on the floor, and the soft mattress is a comfortable, snug place for your child to sleep at home or away. The airy mesh both lets you keep an eye on your child and allows your child to look out. The travel crib is perfect for ages newborn up to approx. 3, and it weighs only 13 lbs/6 kg (including the carry bag).

Features & Benefits:

  • Easy to set up
Open the carry bag, lift out the travel crib and set it up in one simple movement. There are no loose parts to attach. The legs unfold automatically and the mattress has a built-in base plate that keeps the crib standing firmly on the floor.
  • Easy to bring along
The travel crib weighs only 13 lbs/6 kg, making it lightweight and portable. When you’re not using it, simply fold it down and store it in the practical carry bag.
  • Airy design for good supervision
The sides of the travel crib are made from soft, airy mesh. This allows your child to breathe freely even if their face gets close to the side of the crib. It lets you keep an eye on your child, and your child can also look out.
  • Soft, comfy mattress
The soft mattress makes the travel crib a comfortable, snug place for your child to sleep on a trip or at home.
  • Removable and washable fabrics
The mattress cover and travel crib fabric are easy to remove and machine washable.
  • Child-friendly material
The travel crib fabric is free from harmful substances and approved according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class 1 for baby products.

Why This Sh!t Worked for Us:
We take this portable travel crib with us on every trip — with the exception of trips that include hotels with rollaway cribs. Some parents are comfortable checking their travel crib at airport baggage counters unpadded within its own thin canvas carry bag; however, depending on the duration and needs of each trip, we prefer more protective measures: either packing it inside of our Large Expandable Upright Spinner by Briggs and Riley (suitcase dimensions: 28 x 20 x 11″) or strapping it within our Bugaboo Comfort Transport Bag (sans stroller) with other bulky baby gear and supplies [there is so much you can fit in a stroller transport bag(!); see our Baby Travel Hacks (COMING SOON)].

With plenty of how-to videos on YouTube to reference, BabyBjörn’s travel crib is as simple to assemble and disassemble as its competitor’s equally-attractive versions — namely the Guava Family’s Lotus Every Travel Crib and the Nuna Sena Mini. There were a few times that we missed not having the zippered side door feature of the Lotus (think: breastfeeding a fussy infant in the side-lying position and then quietly sneaking away with a swift zip of the side door), and the Sena Mini boasts a travel bassinet attachment; however, the Lotus’ mattress is slightly thinner than the BabyBjörn’s, and the Sena Mini is heavier than both (nineteen pounds compared to the Lotus and BabyBjörn’s thirteen). Additionally, the Sena Mini — (30.3 x 10.4 x 10.4″) when folded — does not fit within our large suitcase.

While the bassinet attachment of the Sena Mini was appealing, that feature had a short shelf life relative to our considerations for the long-term use of the travel crib, which is through approximately 3 years of age. We ultimately decided that we preferred the thickest travel mattress available on the existing market for the duration of its (3-year) use and thus chose the BabyBjörn.
